Oil Sand Core Process
Oil sand is a baked core process. Cores are made in
open or split boxes then baked in an oven.
Oil is typically mixed with silica sand, wood flour, and iron oxide. It
is mixed in a small mullor. The sand is packed by hand into a box with the
shape of the internal configuration. Cores are place in a rack then baked in
an over for about 4 hours at 350 to 400 degrees F.
